About Kontaktmission Ukraine
Kontaktmission Ukraine has been serving the Ukrainian people since 1994. While we have grown greatly in number since then, our direction and calling has not altered. We serve in different ways, but the easiest way to categorize missionary efforts might be through our core values; send, plant, multiply. We aim to send new missionaries, to plant new churches, and multiply the Kingdom of God.
Kontaktmission Ukraine was started back in 1994 when new missionaries, Willi and Katarina Lowen, packed up their family and moved to Ukraine to take advantage of the new religious freedom that came with the fall of the Soviet Union. Their goal was to plant a new church.
They connected with two young christian leaders, Alexander and Tatiana Zigelenko, and Stanislav and Natalia Chernayev. The church was very weak in Ukraine at that time. The people where spiritually starved and eagerly listened as the missionaries expounded on the grace of God and his desire for them to live holy and changed lives. Many people responded to the Gospel with eagerness; and soon a new church was growing. Not long after this in 1994, a new Bible College was founded to educated more leaders and church planters.
Each year Kontaktmission expanded into new regions and new areas of service. Today Kontaktmission Ukraine is represented by many different types of missionaries from several different countries. Since 1994 Kontaktmission has planted more than 15 churches, founded one of the leading seminaries in Ukraine, opened two family orphanages, and continues to be a instrument in the hands of a loving God.
Our Core Values
Kontaktmission is a networked mission movement empowering Christians worldwide to live out their God-given callings, and sending them out for the building up of His church.
The Types of Work Kontaktmission Does
Although KM workers engage in all sorts of evangelistic and support ministries, church planting is our primary objective. We work to start new churches from nothing or to help existing small groups to become fully self-supporting churches capable of reproducing, depending on the situation. We provide assistance for workers on the field and for local believers, as well as for the newly planted church.
Sending and multiplying
We send out missionaries and support local workers who work in accordance with Kontaktmission principles. Churches established by our missionaries should, in turn, send out missionaries to establish new churches.
The mission of Kontaktmission is to send missionaries to areas with little or no Christian witness and to train and support local workers in order to establish self-supporting churches, which will then send missionaries to plant churches.

Blessed are the feet which go, and blessed are the hands which send. The next generation of missionaries and pastors must be trained, mentored, and encouraged in order for the advance of the Kingdom to continue. This is important to our balanced long term approach to missions. Meet our church multipliers>>
Church planting is a bit of an undefined term. Mostly because this task is so varied in scope. For many church planter missionaries, their time is spent doing evangelism and outreach. In addition to this you can very often find them leading small groups. One might call them the tip of the spear in missions. Meet our church planters>>
